Tips for eye make-up removal

Just when you think you've removed all your eye make-up you, you realise you have the dreaded skunk eyes.

Eye makeup is hard to remove because of the delicate area around your eyes, but if not removed properly, over time causes blackening of the skin in that area as well as formation of wrinkles. Before you use your face cleanser, remove your eye make up using these simple steps...

Apply a few drops of eye makeup remover on a cotton ball. You could alternatively use olive oil or vaseline, these are equally effective. Wet the cotton ball appropriately.

Working with one eye at a time, close your eye and apply one of the cotton balls to your lid and lashes. Let it sit for a minute so it can work its way through the layers of makeup.

After a minute, gently swipe your eye in a downward direction to ensure all the makeup is off.

Open your eye and clean any residual makeup under your lashes.

Tips

Baby oil works wonders. It works better than makeup remover and is a cheaper alternative.

If you suffer from hay fever, be choosy about your makeup remover.

Do not use the same cotton ball for both eyes. If you have an infection in one eye it will quickly pass on to the other.

Avoid using soaps as they don't cleanse your skin thoroughly.
