Default Top 10 Best Beaches in the World

Waves of azure seas lapping at your feet, silky sands trickling through your fingers and toes, winds tasting of the salts of the sea blowing across your body as you languidly soak up the warm, yellow sun – a holiday by the beach is the ultimate vacation for most people. Given below are what are considered to be the top 10 beaches in the world:

Matira Beach: Amongst the top beaches in the world, this beach on Bora Bora, which is part of the islands that make up French Polynesia, located in the South Pacific, is one of the dreamiest beaches in the world. Here you will enjoy lazy and long beach stretches with the sea whispering on the shores, and sparkling warm waters. Smaller islands nearby create shallow lagoons around it, where you can snorkel and swim to your heart's content. It is known as the most romantic beaches in the world, and hence is popular with honeymooners. In fact, people go there just to make proposals! At the end of each day, you can sit on the soft, sandy beach, allowing the gentle breeze to rejuvenate you and stir your soul, while you watch the sun going down in the horizon.

Biarritz Beach: If surfing is what you are hooked on, then this is the beach you want to head for. Located in France, just a few minutes distance by road or rail from Bayonne, Biarritz used to be the Monte Carlo of the Atlantic coast. Napoleon III transformed it into a playground for the aristocrats, monarchs, and the glitterati of those days. Later, it went into a decline. It is only of late, in the last decade or so, that it has been rediscovered by the yuppies of Paris and the surfing fraternity of the world. The shore, with white breakers crashing on the strands of sand, where the world's beautiful jet-set crowd bronze their bodies, is undeniably beautiful, which is why it ranks amongst the top 10 best beaches in the world.

Trunk Bay: Located on St. John, this is considered one of the most picturesque beaches in the Caribbean. Featuring opalescent, aquamarine seas and powdery soft sands, Trunk Bay ranks high on the itinerary of those who go on beach holidays regularly as one of the beast beaches. One of its highlights is the 650 feet of underwater trails, which makes it highly popular amongst snorkeling aficionados. You can rent snorkeling gear on the beach.

Clifton Beach: This beach has developed a reputation as a place where the trendy crowds of Cape Town, in South Africa, and international jet-setters head for. The immaculate white sandy beaches and shimmering waters of Clifton, therefore, are suffused with glamor, well-kept bronzing bodies, designer bikinis and sunglasses, which is why it has acquired its blue flag status. (The Blue Flag is a prestigious award which guarantees that a marina or beach is one of the best in the world.) One of the interesting features of Clifton is that it has four beaches which are separated by large-sized granite boulders. The fourth beach is where the action is.

Plage Malendure: This beach, located in Guadeloupe, in the eastern part of West Indies, nestles snugly at the base of a volcano amongst verdant rain-forests. Due to the volcano, the soft sands on this beach are black in color. With a temperature that is perfect and clear waters, this one deserves its ranking as the top 10 best beaches in the world.

Paradise Beach: With waters that are turquoise blue in color, where small fishes can be seen swimming about, this is one of the most popular beaches amongst the younger crowd. Located in Mykonos, which is a Greek island, people head here not only for a holiday at a beach-side resort, but also for the rip-roaring parties. In the summer time Paradise Beach is jam-packed with the hip and happening crowd, with all the DJs of the world converging here. The ambiance is chilled out and what can beat dancing by the ocean!

Tulum Beach: Located to the north of the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, and just two hours due south of Cancun, in Mexico, the beaches in Tulum are renowned for their powdery sands and limestone rocks. Another distinctive feature of Tulum is the wideness of the beaches, which opens up your soul because it gives you all that space to roam in, and breathe in all that spectacular scenery.

Sanibel Island: Strewn with mile upon mile of seashells on white sandy beaches, shallow azure-blue waters, and gentle surf, Sanibel Island, located on the coast of Gulf of Mexico, in Florida, has all the elements for a dream beach holiday. Popular for being a family vacation spot and also frequented by the romantics, this spot offers all sorts of modern amenities, along with the slow-paced life of an island. If you are an eco-tourism buff, you will love it here with all the variety of wild-life species which make this island their home.

Poipu Beach: If it is Paradise you are looking for, then head for Poipu Beach in Hawaii. With breathtaking scenery, golden sands, swaying coconut palms, sunny weather all year round, cool breezes, and cerulean waters that shimmer under the sun, Poipu is brimming with the exquisite beauty that nature has bestowed on it. Because it is located midway on the scenic highway of Kauai, you can make it a base from where you can explore the other attractions that the island has on offer, such as the lovely Na Pali coast, the spectacular Koke'e Mountain Park, the Polihale Beach, and the Waimea Canyon, which is referred to as the South Pacific's Grand Canyon.
