Default How To Make Your Guests Feel At Home

In some countries and cultures where living space is an issue, it is not so common to have a guest room. If you are lucky enough to have one, it is probably quite small and doubles as your home office, sewing room, or storage room.

On the other hand, if you live in a place where most people have large homes with many rooms, the chances are that you have one or more guest rooms that may even have a bathroom attached.

Either way, even though you would obviously want your guests to be comfortable, you may find that you don’t invest too much in decorating that room because either it is completely unoccupied most of the time or it is being used for other purposes.

As a guest room is always important and you would want your visitors to enjoy their stay, let’s spend a few minutes thinking of some ideas to brighten up the place that you would want your visitors to consider as their temporary home.

    * If your guest room is normally your office or work room, make sure that your clutter is always out of the way when your friends come to stay.

There is nothing more inhospitable than feeling as if you have violated someone else’s private space. And much as you love your guests, you would probably prefer it if they didn’t read your personal papers.

    * Invest in a comfortable mattress. It’s very unpleasant to stay awake all night tossing and turning on a hard, bumpy mattress.

    * Put a few pictures on the walls. Plain white walls can be quite depressing.

    * A vase of flowers always adds a warm, welcoming touch to any guest room and makes your visitor feel welcome.

    * If your guest room comes with a separate bathroom, arrange some soap, shampoo, and body lotion in a nice, inviting way, with a little noteattached saying that your visitor is welcome to use them.

    * Make sure that there is at least one cupboard for your guests’ use.

    * Make sure that the sheets on the bed are a matching set, and try to coordinate the colors if possible with the wallpaper and the curtains.

    * Provide a small table or desk for your guest to spread their personal effects.

    * Make sure that the door has a lock on it so that your guest can feel that they have privacy.

    * If it is the summer, make sure that your guest room either has air conditioning, or at least a good fan. Conversely, in the winter, make sure that the room is adequately heated.

Provide a beautiful area rug to add a touch of class to the guest room. Depending on the colors and style of the furniture, there are plenty of area rugs that will really add to the look of the room.

Oriental area rugs will make any room look beautiful, especially if the furniture in your guest room is classical in style.

Alternatively, for softness and style, shag rugs may be more appropriate, providing a certain feeling of luxury when your guest gets up in the morning.

By making these small changes to your guest room, you will make your guests’ stay in your home an even more pleasant experience!.
