New course on water harvesting
Indira Gandhi National Open University has invited applications for its certificate programme in water harvesting and management. This programme aims to generate mass awareness and disseminate skills through trained human resources about rainwater harvesting techniques and management for the optimal use of harvested water. The programme will provide useful knowledge to cope in water scarce and drought prone areas.
After completing the six-month certificate programme, students can seek employment in various government and non-government organisations dealing with water harvesting projects, urban housing, private real estate builders, soil conservation departments and groundwater boards.
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade is organising an innovative training programme funded by the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, which aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the agricultural business environment.
The programme has been launched in view of the challenges brought forth by globalisation for farmers and exporters in terms of decision making. Issues to be covered include agriculture marketing, finance, price risk management, supply chain management, information technology applications in agriculture, impact of World Trade Organisation agreements and various trade agreements recently signed by India.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited and the Greater Noida-based Birla Institute of Management Technology signed a memorandum of understanding earlier this week to jointly explore opportunities abroad for assignments such as capacity building, institution development and training and development programmes.
Exchange of intellectual resources and infrastructure for management development programmes for leadership development, strategic management and competency development of working and middle-level executives will also take place. The signatories have also agreed to collaborate in research activities in areas of mutual interest. Joint identification of topical themes for organising national and international conferences with an objective of sharing advancements and best practices will take place.
Aligarh Muslim University’s Food Craft Institute has invited applications for admission to its various courses in hospitality education. The Institute runs postgraduate diplomas, diplomas and certificate courses. The admission form and prospectus are available at the office of the institute. A total of 122 foreign students have applied for admission in various programmes of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University for the 2011-12 academic session, of which 46 have applied for the MBA programme.
They have also applied for courses such as B. Tech., M. Tech, Bachelor of Computer Applications, Master of Computer Applications and others.
