5 Soups for Weight Loss

1. Vegetable Soup
This wholesome soup is made from two cans of diced cherry tomatoes, one can of crushed tomatoes, small chunks of onion, bell peppers, zucchini and few celery stalks. Add vegetable or chicken broth to the vegetables and simmer for about 60 minutes with your choice of seasoning that can include pepper, salt and /or fresh garlic powder. If need be, you can make this soup with herbs such as thyme, oregano, rosemary or basil.
2. Green Soup
This soup is a genuine comfort food that renders all goodness and you can have this in the place of a meal. Cook onions, garbanzo and navy beans and zucchini in extra virgin olive oil until the vegetables become tender. Once done, add vegetable broth or fat free chicken broth along with pepper, salt, bay leaves and garlic for seasoning. A medium sized potato can be added if your diet for the day permits it. Finally add spinach just before serving so that it just wilts in the heat but its freshness is retained.
3. Cabbage Soup
Cabbages do not add any calories to your diet and the cabbage soup diet has been proved to be successful world over. To prepare the popular cabbage soup, cook sliced spring onions in a dash of olive oil until they become translucent. Add bite sized pieces of green peppers and cabbage to the cooking pot. Similarly, add chunks of carrots, celery and mushroom as well as tomatoes. Cayenne pepper is a good alternative for those who like their soup spicy. Let the entire broth simmer in 12 cups of water for about two hours. You can use chicken cubes if you want to in the soup.
