The Jammu and Kashmir government today said the Centre has sanctioned 50 industrial training institutes and 142 skill development centres in the state.

"The Union Government has agreed to sanction 50 more ITIs and 142 SDCs with intake capacity of 300 candidates in each for popularising technical education in the state," Technical Education minister R S Chib told the legislative assembly yesterday.

There are currently 59 ITIs, including 11 for women and six in private sector, in the state.
