    Oneamong the many temples in Kerala is the Laxmi Venkatesh temple thatenshrines the beautiful images of Laxmi and Venkatesh or Vishnu. Thetemple was built in December 1989 and is situated at Hosdurg inKanhangad. Due to its magnificent and mystical value, the temple isthronged by tourists and devotees all through the year.


    Anothervery famous temple is the Guruvayoor temple whose main deity is LordSree Krishna in his youthful form. Its eastern nada is the mainentrance. There is a 7 meters high Deepasthambham which has 13circular receptacles and it looks amazing when lit completely. Theother deities in the temple are Ganapathy, Sree Ayyappa andEdathedathu Kavil Bhagavathy. The temple is known to heal variousdifficult physical ailments. Exquisite mural paintings and carvingsare inlaid on the walls of the sanctum sanctorum. Lot of people cometo catch a glimpse of the Nirmalya Darshanam celebrated in thepre-dawn hours i.e. about 3 am.
