എന്താണ് വിവരാവകാശ നിയമം ...?

ഇന്ത്യയിലെ സർക്കാർ ഭരണനിർവ്വഹണം സംബന്ധിച്ച വിവരങ്ങൾ അറിയാൻ പൊതുജനങ്ങൾക്ക് അവകാശം നൽകുന്ന 2005ലെ ഒരു സുപ്രധാന നിയമമാണ്* വിവരാവകാശനിയമം 2005 (Right to Information Act 2005) 2005 ജൂൺ 15 ന്* പാർലമെന്റ്* പാസ്സാക്കിയ ഈനിയമം 2005 ഒക്ടോബർ 12 നാണ്* പ്രാബല്യത്തിൽ വന്നത്*. ഈ നിയമത്തിൽ, വിവരങ്ങൾ പൊതുജനങ്ങൾക്കു നൽകുന്നതിനായി, എല്ലാ ഓഫീസുകളിലും പൊതുവിവരാധികാരികളെ നിയമിക്കണമെന്നും മേൽനോട്ടത്തിനായി, കേന്ദ്രത്തിലും സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും കമ്മീഷനുകളെ നിയമിക്കണമെന്നും, ഏതൊരു ഭാരതീയപൗരനും, വിലക്കപ്പെട്ട ചുരുക്കം ചില വിവരങ്ങൾ ഒഴിച്ച്, കേന്ദ്ര-സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാരുകളുടെയോ, സർക്കാർസഹായം പറ്റുന്ന മറ്റു സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളുടെയോ, കൈവശമുള്ള ഏതൊരു രേഖയും, നിശ്ചിതതുകയടച്ച് അപേക്ഷിച്ചാൽ നിശ്ചിത സമയത്തിനുള്ളിൽ നൽകണമെന്നും വ്യവസ്ഥ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. നിയമവിഘാതകർക്ക് കടുത്ത പിഴശിക്ഷകളാണ് വ്യവസ്ഥചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്.
