Default IE7 zero day attack: hacked sites infect PCs

Microsoft is investigating a zero-day attack affecting Internet Explorer 7.0, which could enable a hacker to take over infected PCs.

A list of sites users should not visit :

    17gamo.com
    baidu.baibai2.cn
    cc4y9.cn
    web.jha2.cn
    w.c66i.cn
    iuwei.com
    yhgames.com
    mianfei58.cn
    dingli.net
    doubleluck.com.cn
    lianrong.com.cn
    bzka.3322.org
    baidu.baibai1.cn
    baidu.xinlang1.cn
    cc4y6.cn
    zlwrnm20.cn
    360avva.akvvv.cn
    hhhh8886.cn
    sllwbd10.cn
    sllwrnm10.cn
    baidu-du9.cn
    baidu-baiduzi8.cn
    baidu-baiduxin9.cn
    baidu.bbtu07.cn
    comefood.com

Now for prevention, the first step you can take is to block the above domains and/or IP addresses. These sites are for the most part hosting a bunch of bad stuff and not just an IE7 exploit. However, there are certainly sites that we have missed and new ones that will pop up frequently, so this will not stop completely stop it all either. The only other real option against this exploit for now is an obvious one and that's to just not use IE7 until the issue has been resolved.

Default Internet Explorer 8 is compliant with web standards

Microsoft has reduced a major bottleneck for web developers in its latest Internet Explorer browser by making it compliant with web standards, which could dramatically reduce the time users take to test browser compatibility.

Many people probably will not ever use the compatibility button that Microsoft has built into IE8, which means some sites will not work and the user will get a message saying the site needs Internet Explorer.

IE8 also offers productivity improvements and security measures designed to protect the privacy of end-users by disabling cookies that keep track of which websites they have visited.
