KOCHI: Malayalam superstar Mammootty will start shooting for his next project ‘Mathilukalkkappuram’ by the end of November. Nayantara will play the female lead in this movie.

This movie is a sequel of the National Award winning Malayalam movie ‘Mathilukal’, which was directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan in 1989. This film is again an adaptation of a novel titled ‘Mathilukal’ by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer.

Mammootty played the lead role in ‘Mathilukal’. Murali, Karamana, Janardanan Nair, Krishnan Kutty Nair and Azeez played other important roles. The film was screened at the Venice Film Festival and was received very well.

The actor will also begin working in the sequel of ‘August 1’, named ‘August 15’. Mammootty will revive the role of an investigative officer called Perumal, which was the main character in the original film. SN Swamy is writing the script for this movie, which will be directed by Shaji Kailash.
