Pakistani students pray for victory over India

KARACHI: An Islamic preacher has urged 1,000 students into prayer in Pakistan after claiming Indians were using black magic to try to help the home team win Wednesday's World Cup semifinal.

Preacher Masood Beg told students at a mosque at an Islamic seminary about the Indian plot, saying "it is therefore mandatory to pray to Allah for the success of the Pakistan team."

The students in Pakistan's largest city Karachi then held their hands up in prayer.

Cricket matches between India and Pakistan are one of sport's greatest rivalries, and huge television audiences are expected in both nations for Wednesday's match in Mohali, India.
