Kerala Government has declared to pay a sum of Rs 10,000 to every family with a new-born child. The money would be utilized for the child’s higher educational expenses.
As per the scheme, the state government will suffice the entire educational expenses for the new-born child of below poverty line (BPL) families. For other categories, the government will pay half the sum whereas the rest will be borne by the families.
The government will donate the sum in the form of a fixed deposit that will be opened in a bank. The interest along with the main amount will be used for higher education of the child after he/she completes her 10+2 studies. This was declared by Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac. The state government will allow the beneficiary to opt for any professional training session or start his own business.
