Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol again team up for an action adventure with a message. The story is similar to "Ghayal". Sunny Deol(Kashi) takes his sick father(Amrish Puri) to Bombay in an atempt to cure him. When he arrives he gets involved with local shopkeepers who are trying to stop the local gangster Katia(Danny Denzgopa) from shutting them down. In this scenario the audience experiences heavy political dialougue and there is also links to the Independance movement against the British. The story is not original but the way it is handled is re-freshing if not inspiring.

All the performances are excellent. Sunny plays the innocent village boy very well early on to provide the audience with funny moments. Later on he is excellent as the intense macho-man out for revenge. If anyone can play the angry young man as well as Amitabh Bachan it is Sunny Deol. Menakshi does well in her limited role and shouts and screams to the best of her ability. Danny Denzgopa also gives a credible performance as the cold villain.

The best performance however comes from Amrish Puri who over the past few years has shown he is much more than the archetypal villain. His performance of the caring Father and retired Nationalist hero is so convincing it is uncanny. Amrish Puri has already won the Filmfare Award for this film. If this film should be watched it should be for his performance because it is of the highest Quality.
