Ye Lucky Lips.........
HI TO ALL ............
Born on September 8, 1933 Asha Bhosle is part of the famous Mangeshkar family and Hindi film music fraternity. She first sang at the age of 10, along with elder sister Lata Mangeshkar, for a children's group song in Marathi film Kiti Hasaal in 1942.
Starting from 1943 Asha Bhosle has sung around 12,000 songs in over 14 languages, including Russian. Asha's repertoire encompasses classical Indian music, film music, pop music, ghazals, qawwalis, folk songs, bhajans, and regional music like Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Geeti.
Singing for movies like Sangdil (1952), Parineeta (1953), Boot Polish (1954) and Naya Daur (1957) earned her immense popularity. Her partnership with music director RD Burman gained her fame and glory. In the 1970s, Asha Bhosle's seductive voice perfectly matched with dancer Helen's gyrations and together the team gave numerous hits like Piya tu ab to aaja (Caravan), O haseena zulfon wali (Teesri Manzil), Karle pyar kar le (Talash) and Yeh mera dil (Don).
Asha Bhosle did not limit herself to singing for dance numbers alone. Instead, she showcased her versatility by singing slow soulful songs and traditional ghazals in movies like Ijaazat and Umrao Jaan.
In 1997, Asha Bhosle was nominated for a Grammy for her private album, Legacy, with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Now, in her 70s, Asha Bhosle still has a fan following, with her popular numbers like Lucky lips (Lucky). She has also judged reality shows like Zee's Sa Re Ga Ma.
