Superstar busy with son's launch

KOCHI: Malayalam superstar Mammooty is all set for his second Kannada film after 'Love'. He flew straight to Bangalore after vacationing in the US. The southern superstar was largely influenced by the quality of the script. He said that it had a totally new and fresh concept. Mammooty is also very excited to work in the film with a new director, as young and debutant directors had helped his career progression so far, by offering him a variety of roles.
Mammooty is also writing the dialogues for the Malayalam version of the film. He said that he had re-entered the Kannada film industry again, because the script was impressive. The 56 year old actor said that he is playing a double role in this film, but the two characters never meet. One of them is an IT professional and he gets a half written novel in his friend’s room, by chance. The novel is about the pre-Independence period, where a hunter falls in love with a village girl.
The film is scheduled to start shooting from July. But the heroine of the film is yet to be decided. The director added that the Kannada actor Mohan will be seen in a special role too.
'Shikari' is written and directed by the Kannada film director Abhay Simha, who was awarded the National Award for Gubbachchigalu. The famous Kannada film producer K Manju is the producer of this film. Mammooty adds that he cannot deny the common link between Karnataka and Kerala and would be happy to do films from both the regions.
'Cinema Katha' is the next project of Mammooty. The film too has a new director. It is scheduled to commence shooting in the first week of June. The role played by Mammooty is that of a school teacher, whose ambition is to be a film actor.
With his latest Malayalam film 'Pokkiriraja' doing great in the theatres, Mammooty is also busy launching his son Salman in a Malayalam film to be directed by Linguswamy.
Salman would be getting a new name shortly, one which fits in with his image. Yuvan Shankar will be the music director and Mammooty will be seen doing a cameo. The movie is expected to have a lot of action, drama, glamour and sentiments.
Linguswamy revealed the news of launching Mammooty’s son. He said that his relation with Mammooty is very good, as his first film 'Anandam' in Tamil had Mammooty and was a big hit at that time. So, when Mammooty requested Linguswamy to launch Salman, he agreed wholeheartedly.
