The hotel’s main entrance faces the southern portion of Grand Army Plaza, commemorating the Union Army in the Civil War. Grand Army Plaza is in two sections, bisected by Central Park South. The Hotel Plaza Athenee, New York has now unveiled a selection of new guestrooms and suites with enlarged marble bathrooms, deep soaking tubs and dual sinks. New suites offer an intimate New York residential ambience with hardwood floors in the living rooms, one and half bathrooms and full kitchenettes.

The fitness center will re-open in a spacious environment with front facing views and state of the art equipment. The hotel lobby has a new look with a lounge-like atmosphere. The addition of Two Presidential suites, each 2,000 square feet, as well as a new spa with private treatment rooms will be ready early in 2010.
