The Importance of Saris for an Indian Woman

Wedding among Indians is a purely traditional affair and all the details of the rich culture of South Asian countries are on display for everyone to see. One of the common features of any Indian wedding is that most of the participants of the wedding wear a sari. A sari is the traditional dress of the women in India and no matter how modern the Bride is sure to wear a sari. Even in a wedding of any NRI who is settled in America, most of the women wear saris. Wedding saris come in many varieties and some can weigh up to 5 to 10 KG’s since it is heavily embroidered with gold and silver threads.
Which saris to wear for the different rituals in a common wedding is a dilemma which is faced by most who are attending an Indian wedding. Today there are many varieties of saris which are available in the market. These saris are greatly influenced by Bollywood movies and Indians are crazy about films. No wonder Bollywood is one of the biggest film industries of the world and produces the highest number of films.
Most of the wedding saris are usually of dark colors like purple, red, pink etc. These saris are highly embroidered with gold and silver threads. The embroidered saris are usually of North Indian Banarsi style and South Indian Kanjivaram saris.
