 Music director Bombay Ravi passed away
		
		
				
				
		
			
				
					
Noted musician Ravi Shankar Sharma, popularly  known as Ravi Bombay, died yesterday after prolonged illness. He was 85.  Born in Delhi on March 3, 1926, this gifted musician with no formal  training in music, made big in Hindi films with the 1952 film 'Anand  Math'.  Films such as 'Chaudhvin Ka Chand' (1960), 'Do Badan' (1966),  'Humraaz' (1967), 'Ankhen', Waqt', 'Neel Kamal' 'Gumraah'   and 'Nikaah'  (1982) won him critical as well as commercial success. He was also  instrumental in shaping up the careers of singers like Mahendra Kapoor  and Salma Agha.
 
He arrived in Mollywood with the movie  'Nakhashtanagal' in 1986, and thereafter had been part of the team of MT  and Hariharan for long. He is the only music director in Malayalam with  a hundred percent hit record. His amazing musical compositions that he  had created for several films includes Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Sargam,  Mayookham, Panchagni, Nakhakshathangal, Vaishali, Parinayam, Sukrutham,  Patheyam and Mayookham. He was honoured with Padmashree in 1971.
