KOCHI: Superstar Mohanlal has joined hands with a leading ayurveda company to set up herbal villages across Kerala that promise to combine healthcare with tourism.

Mohanlal has teamed up with Pankajakasturi Herbals to form a new company, Santham Herbal Village.

"This has been a dream project of mine for long. The first herbal village would be set up in Vellanad in Thiruvananathapuram," Mohanlal, the chairman of the company, told reporteRs

"The cost of the Vellanad project is Rs 110 million ($2.4 million)."

The project is coming up in a 20-acre plot on a hillock. It will have 40 cottages, with each cottage being 800 square feet.

M B Sanilkumar, project consultant for the herbal village, said the highlight of the village would be a full-fledged herbal garden. Guests will plant the vegetables and harvest the produce themselves.

"We plan to have a two-week package that would include yoga and cooking classes, ayurveda massages, visits to the Pankajakasturi ayurveda factory and indoor games," said Sanilkumar.
