I have travelled in India as a backpacker. If that is what you are planning so take your time. It takes a very long time to travel whith buses or trains. If you travel around outside touristarea you must prepare yourself about what you will see. You will certenliy see dead people on pvements (beggers) rats(i was bitten by one) and it smells!!! It is a very interesting country, but be prepared!
