These migratory birds then head south to Australia.
A bird that deserves special mention is the Milky Stork. An active breeding program is conducted with Zoo Negara in a specially constructed aviary next to the main lake. Visitors are not allowed inside the aviary but the birds are clearly visible nesting in the enclosure. It is a hope and popular belief that upon release of these captive-bred storks so that they will choose Kuala Selangor as their permanent home.
