    For ease of use, I would choose java (espiecially with eclipse) way before c++. But if you want power go for C++. Personally my new favorite is c#, it combines the ease of use of java and the power of cpp.

    Probably depends on what you want.
    C++ for performance

    For now, Java is the first global language follow by php and python and asp.net and so on . This will tell you the level of java to C++. C++ is now considered as educational language. That is one of the programming like used basically for educational purpose like GW Basic, FORTRAN and so on to give solid background of programming skill NOT commercial programming language like Java, .net and so on
