Pazhassi Raja wants a ticket price hike!
The producers of Mammootty’s magnum opus Pazhassi Raja Gokulam Gopalan, has asked the Kerala Government permission to increase the ticket rate of the film by 50 percent.
The government will have to issue a special GO, which was done earlier for many movies including the recent Twenty:20. The producers claim that their cost of production for the MT Vasudevan Nair written Hariharan directed big budget extravaganza has touched nearly Rs 25 crore.
If the producers have to recover atleast a part of their budget the film will have to have increased ticket rates in Kerala. For example a Rs 50 ticket in Saritha, Ernakulam will have to be sold at Rs 75, a 50 percent increase in ticket rate. In Attingal a Rs 30 ticket will cost Rs 45 if it is implemented.
The Kerala Government is yet to pass the order; hence the film release is getting delayed. The CPM government in Kerala hates to increase cinema ticket rates, as they feel it will pinch the pocket of the common man.
