Happy Living

Stress free living is a gift readily available for all. With daily practice, we will be able to live freer, joyful, and healthier lives.
Meditation naturally heals the mind, body and spirit. Meditation, relaxes the mind and body. Meditation liberates the spirit.
The mind, once relaxed begins to rid itself, of all ill forming habits. Once achieved, the body begins to heal itself, from all diseases. The spirit, rejoices for it is free.
Balance Benchmark Ideas
- Dedicating time to practicing a hobby, whether it's a weekly knitting circle, 10 minutes in the garden every day, or an art class each season. Whatever you choose, devote yourself to doing it consistently.
- Spending time alone each day.
- Spending time outside each day.
- Keeping a regularly scheduled date with a favorite family member or friend–whether it's a phone call, lunch, or other date. (Email doesn’t count.)
- Taking walks just for fun, with your pet, a family member, or on your own.
- Gathering the troops for a family dinner.
- Eating home-cooked meals.
- Journaling.
- Spending daily quality time with your pet.
And remember, you only need one! No sense stressing yourself out with a list of things you feel you MUST do every day or else. Life is hectic enough. Whatever you choose, let it work for you instead of against you.

3 Mini Meditations to Help You Through Your Day (or Night)
1. Mini Breath Meditation
Sit comfortably with your back straight. Take a deep breath and let it go. Begin to silently count at the end of each out breath: Inhale . . . exhale . . . count one, inhale . . . exhale . . . two, inhale . . . exhale . . . three. Then start at one again. Just three breaths and back to one. Simply following each breath in and silently counting. So simple. Do this as many times as you want, eyes open or closed, breathing normally.

2. Mini Walking Meditation
You can do this walking along a country lane, a city street, in the office or the garden. You can walk slowly, normal or fast, whatever feels right. As you walk become aware of your walking, of the movement of your body and the rise and fall of your feet. Become aware of your breath and see if you can bring both your breathing and your walking together. Just walk and breathe with awareness for a few minutes.
3. Instant Letting Go
Find a quiet place to sit, have a straight back, and take a deep breath and let it go. Then quietly repeat to yourself: “My body is at ease and relaxed . . . my heartbeat is normal . . . my mind is calm and peaceful . . . my heart is open and loving.” Keep repeating this until you have let go of the tension and are at peace. Then take a deep breath and have a smile on your face!

Some Useful Yoga Poses For Cold
Yoga cold remedies need practice to perform. Some of them are highly effective if practiced regularly. Here is a list of representative yoga poses for cold.

Yoga Shoulder Stand
Yoga shoulder stand (sarvanga asana) is next best to shirasa asana (headstand) in yoga. Lie relaxed on back with feet together and hands by the side. Breathe a full cycle and lift your legs together so much as to lift the hips and trunk too. At this time, you can support of both the hands with elbows firmly on the ground. Let the feet face upwards without swinging. Hold here for 10 breaths and take off your hands before returning to normal position. Exhale while lowering. As you gain in practice, you can do this without the hands supporting your trunk.
The Bow
Bow is Dhanur asana. Lie down on abdomen and relax for a few breaths. Lift your legs up, backwards, bending at the knees and hold your ankles with your hands. Now, while inhaling, lift up head, chest and thighs with knees clearly off the ground. Now you are completely supported on your abdomen only. Hold it for 4-6 breaths Exhale while returning by retracing the sequence in reverse order.
Yoga Cat Pose
Rest on knees and palms just below shoulders. Hold your spine as straight as possible and look forward. Crouch inwards trying to round the spine and gaze at navel. Exhale while doing this and take a couple of breaths here. Come back to original position inhaling. Now go forward to the cow stretch from here, by dropping the back and lifting head as much as possible. Return to the original position after a couple of breaths while exhaling.
Corpse Pose
You need to lie down on your back on a carpet with feet and palms comfortably away from the body. Starting from toes, concentrate on each organ of body in order to relax fully. Let your breaths calm down automatically. Relax in this position for 10-15 minutes.
Relaxation Pose
Relaxation pose is the same as shava asana or Corpse pose.
All above yoga poses for cold are shown to work on respiratory organs, better than other therapies when practiced as per norms. Further, all yoga cold remedies depend on strict observation of breathing techniques. Thus, additional practicing of pranayama may help better the cause.

Tips to know before wearing Sarees
It is an undeniable fact that the sari adds to the elegance and mystery that surrounds a woman and gives her personality a new dimension. However, today more and more young women are shunning the sari for more "comfortable', less cumbersome' and manageable clothes. Even though, most of the people who are of the opinion that the sari is rather difficult to manage have no doubts about its versatility. The versatility of the sari is best brought about by the following lines." The sari's radiance, vigor and variety, produced by single straight length of cloth, should give us in the West pause and make us think twice about the zipper, the dart and the shoulder pad." The possibilities of a sari as a garment are tremendous and here are two concrete facts to support it. Firstly, several books have been written about the different ways in which a sari can be worn.

Well, if you are one of those people who cannot think of wearing a sari with trousers then, its time to think again. The pallu is one of the most visible part of the sari., on should use every trick in their box to best display an embellished pallu. Another area that can be played around with is the pleats. The double sari, which is in actual fact two different kinds of garments, which are worn as one, is a product of her creative genius.
Avoid wearing a petticoat that is loose or dragging. Ideally, get your petticoats stitched to size.
Make sure that your cotton sari is adequately starched and well ironed. When draping the sari remember to press down the pleats with your hand to keep the sari form flaring out.
Choosing the right accessories is the best way of enhancing your looks. The main reason for this is that your choice of accessory reflects your personality.
Hence, choosing the right accessory is as important as choosing you're the right clothes.
In the case of saris your accessories would include blouses in addition to jewellery, shoes, bags and bindis. Most designers suggest that that it is not a bad idea to experiment with the different kinds of blouses that are in fashion. The good old low back blouse is one thing that never goes out of fashion.
However, the important thing is that the blouse should be well fitted. Coming to shoes. The right shoe with any outfit is one that is comfortable. Matching the colour of your shoes to your outfit is a good idea. Having neutral colour shoes in your wardrobe is an excellent idea as these colours go with almost any kind of sari. Another thing to keep in mind is the occasion.
Weddings and other such occasions demand that you wear shoes that are as grand as your outfit. But, a party in the evening would require you to wear something more elegant. Now we come to jewellery. This is an age old passion as far as women are concerned. The thing to remember here is that jewellery is worn to complement your looks and to overshadow your personality. Therefore, choose jewellery that complements not only your looks but also your style. Daytime jewellery needs to be light-thus pearls, stones and light gold and silver jewellery is a good idea. Jewellery worn in the evening can be heavy and bright. Last but not the least bags have come in a big way as not just beautiful but also useful accessories. What makes choosing bags a much easier affair than anything else is their names as they are classified party bags, evening bags, shopping bags etc. All this information will help you turn a million heads wherever you go. So, head for your wardrobe.

How to Stop Worrying
Anxiety is more than just a feeling. It’s the body’s physical “fight or flight” reaction to a perceived threat. Your heart pounds, you breathe faster, your muscles tense up, and you feel light-headed. When you’re relaxed, the complete opposite happens. Your heart rate slows down, you breathe slower and more deeply, your muscles relax, and your blood pressure stabilizes. Since it’s impossible to be anxious and relaxed at the same time, strengthening your body’s relaxation response is a powerful anxiety-relieving tactic.
If you’re a chronic worrier, relaxation techniques such as progressive muscle relaxation, deep breathing, and meditation can teach you how to relax. The key is regular practice. Try to set aside at least 30 minutes a day. Over time, the relaxation response will come easier and easier, until it feels natural.
- Progressive muscle relaxation. When anxiety takes hold, progressive muscle relaxation can help you release muscle tension and take a “time out” from your worries. The technique involves systematically tensing and then releasing different muscle groups in your body. As your body relaxes, your mind will follow.
- Deep breathing. When you’re anxious, you breathe faster. This hyperventilation causes symptoms such as dizziness, breathlessness, lightheadedness, and tingly hands and feet. These physical symptoms are frightening, leading to further anxiety and panic. But by breathing deeply from the diaphragm, you can reverse these symptoms and calm yourself down.
- Meditation. Many types of meditation have been shown to reduce anxiety. Mindfulness meditation, in particular, shows promise for anxiety relief. Research shows that mindfulness meditation can actually change your brain. With regular practice, meditation boosts activity on the left side of the prefrontal cortex, the area of the brain responsible for feelings of serenity and joy.

Health Tips
Avoid excessive snacking
There isn’t any scientific evidence that links chocolate to having breakouts. But as a healthy, low fat, high fibre diet is known to be good for skin, keep snacks such as chocolates to a minimum and indulge in them only occasionally.
Eat a fibre rich diet
Your body needs fibre to keep your complexion at its best. Many high fibre foods are rich in essential vitamins and antioxidants. Along with adequate water, fibre works to keep your body hydrated and flushes away toxins.
Be careful of what you drink

Change from caffeine laden tea and coffee to herbal teas and decaffeinated coffee. Sip pure fruit juices rather than fizzy drinks.
