Plot Synopsis Kites, a coproduction between Mexican and Indian film industry has a unique storyline.It is a tale of history of love, action, dance and persecution.A romantic action thriller, set in the urban surroundings of Las vegas and Los angeles,including the breathtaking exotic locales of New mexico.It is a poetic film based on chronological events that take place in the lives of all the three characters of the film. Its a bi-lingual film both in English and Hindi.
Directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Rakesh Roshan,Kites boasts of a musical score and soundtrack produced by Rajesh Roshan. Anurag Basu, Robin Bhatt and Prashant Rasiely will be the three screenplay directors working on "Kites"
The lead roles are played out by bollywood hearthrob Hrithik Roshan, Latino actress Barbara Mori and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut.
Characters
Hrithik Roshan as Jay Hrithik will be seen in a never before role.He plays a dance instructor in Kites, He plays the role of a smart Las Vegan boy who can defraud anyone.
He is flamboyant and wanders around like a kite, romances two women, but no matter what he does, he always flies high. Hrithik's character will be dashing and energetically crafted. His look designed by Suneet Verma, will be sihouettes and european linen suits with hats. He has also sung a debut song in English for this film
Barbara Mori as Natasha Her role as Natasha is that of a Mexican night clubdancer who travels through India and while there she meets and falls in love with a salsa teacher played by Hrithik Roshan. However, theirlove is not accepted because of their cultural differences.
The two end up embroiled in a controversial love story. Natasha lives in Las Vegas, and plans to marry, but when the family learns she instead is running away with Hrithik, the family begins to chase him, and persecute them. The plot is filled with adventure, romance and of course dance.
Barbara describes their relationship in the film as 'modern day Romeo and Juliet'. The two love, fight, romance, argue, and makeup like 2 kites entangled together. And eventually one day one of the kite flies away
Kangana Ranaut as Gina Kangana Ranaut is known for her offbeat roles, she debuted in the film Gangster and from there has continued portraying many different types of characters. In Kites, she plays the role of a rich girl who is desperately in love with the dance instructor.As per the reports,Kangana for her part will play the spoilt rich brat, who is accustomed to get her whims and fancies fulfilled.Kangana, who is Hrithik's student, is madly in love with him and can go to any extend to get him to love her back.
Her screen name is Gina and she has a very important role to play within the story. The recent buzz is that Kangana will be seen playing a very sexy role who tries to seduces hottie Hrithik Roshan.
To prepare for her role as Gina, Kangana has take up ballroom dancing, most likely the Latin dances since Hrithik will be shaking his hips to the Salsa beat. To go along with her sexy image her costumes will include elegant gowns.
Collaboration between Mexican and Indian industry with crew assistance from Hollywood, and a vision to go global "Kites" is all set to enthrall the audiences when it releases next June 2009. The schedule is 80 days and shooting will take place in New Mexico, Las Vegas and Los Angeles."
