    Default Kerala Dresses

    FORMAL WEAR WOMEN

Formal wear in kerala for a female refers to the use of sari or salwar suit on formal occasion.
And for these occasions sober colors are more preferred; however some take to bright colors these days.

Females branded formal wear are not easily available so they prefer to go for tailor made clothes.
Materials preferred in formal wear are more cotton and silk.

Formal wear cannot be completed without a formal hairstyle, formal watch, formal footwear and formal jewelry that go together with every form of formal dress

    Default Kerala Festival - Onam

'Onasadhya' is the grand feast served during the celebration of Onam in Kerala. It is served in Banana leafs. There is a way of placing the leaf and an order of serving the dishes. The picture given shows the serving order beginning from the left with 'Upperies'.

Rice is the main course. With rice, various kinds of dishes are served... curries, 'upperies' (things fried in oil), 'pappadams' (round crisp flour paste cakes of peculiar make), 'achchars' (pickles of various kinds), 'payasams' and 'prathamans' (Desserts). Fruits are also served, mainly plantain.

    Default Kerala Saree

The elegant Kerala Saree, off white with gold border is unique for their natural colour, texture and golden border. These sarees lend an extraordinary elegance to the person wearing it. Every Malayali woman possesses at least one Kerala sari in her wardrobe. Traditionally women in Kerala also wear a two piece cloth named 'settu mundu', also known as 'mundum neriyathum' with natural body colour and breathtaking border shades, which when worn, exactly look like a saree.
