3d??? online game? i dont understand
3D as in SVG 3d-rotating objects sucks I think....but if you just use a 3d-editor to make flat-banners, that's quite nice!!!!
Depends on how you pull off the 3d. Just having static images of something made within a 3d editor will add pizaz to the design, but if you really want to go for it there's ways to simulate 3d in Flash.
Yeah, 3d in flash may be great but these days some people just add a boring rotating cube to their page to look 'flashy', I hate that stuff, don't put things on a site that don't add anything to the experience of users
By using 3D in website design I mean using of images that is design and rendered by some 3D studio and then embbeded in the website as image.
Somethink like this:

Or something more full with motion - using Flush:

My opinion is that 3D gives many possibilities - simply you can add to the website whatever you want well looking object.
Of course I agree that all this will reflect on the size of website (many and large images).
I wonder why websites with 3D aren't so widespread(I have found mainly websites using banners with 3D).
The above two are made with flash and 3d-flat-objects....the objects are rendered with a 3d-editor or they just flat images with depth in it. (using Photoshop). the other is made by flash, also just using ONE 3d-element rendered by Flash (the candle)...the rest is just an animated background with depth in it. You can also do this by just drawing a box existing out of 6 squares in photoshop, you then alreadsy have got a 3d element.... GIMP allows you to even turn a photo into a turning ball. there are many sites who use 3d.. some of them just don't get noticed. I know MANY designsites who act like a 3d-environment...they are really nice and it's fun to walk through a world, searching for something to use....
Banners are the most used 3d-elements, because they are simple to make and make a good impression to users of a site
