How to select the right pet

It may look like spaming this "Pet" forum but reading this I got rather interested in really replying to quite a lot subjects mentioned.
Why do you have to chose a SINGLE pet. I own them 3: cat ferret and a small dog. Sometimes and with some pets (eg. ferrets) it's better to have someone to keep them ocupied and with whom they can allways play. Remeber this:
lonely animal = sad animal
