KOCHI: The HC division bench Friday refused to interfere in Single bench’s order of staying national award to Malayalam children’s film Keshu directed by Sivan.

The division bench comprising Chief Justice Chelameswar and P R Ramachandra Menon was considering plea filed by Sivan, director of Keshu and Sanjeev Sivan, his son and one of the member of the regional jury.

In the plea, Sanjeev Sivan pointed out that single bench passed the order without examining details and he was not present in the jury while it considered the film. But Division bench made clear that it didn’t find any reason to interfere in single bench’s order.

The award has come under attack from several quarters since Sivan’s son Sangeeth Sivan was a member of the regional jury.

The single bench passed the interim order while considering the plea of Majid Gulistan, producer and director of Chithrakuzhal alleging that Keshu was a remake of Pularvettam. Earlier director Hari Kumar had criticized giving award to the film and said it doesn’t deserve an award.
