front page extensions

What exactly are front page extensions? Each time i go to file open web and open the folder my web site is in front page creates sub folders such as _private and so forth. I think it uses these folder to give me infomration about the site. Is this what is meant by front page extensions? Or does it mean the ability to pulblish web pages using front page. I personally prefer using Ftp. Btw does this host accept file names with spaces?

It's normal that frontpage make subfolders. It's also by the program dreamweaver.
When you used frontpage some things are going to the subfolders. you must upload it also when you upload by ftp
