1. Purchase professional errors & liability insurance and
promote this fact in your Web Development Proposals. All things
being said, most clients will happily pay a premium in exchange
for knowing things will get done right.
2. Offer a guarantee on browser compatibility in your proposals,
whether its for 3, 6 or 12 months. Guarantee you'll troublehsoot
and fix all site rendering bugs in a set list of browsers, free
of charge.
3. Create a client-only area on your Website where clients can
preview and approve screenshots of layouts/logos, etc. and
heavily promote this fact. For many clients, time is money and
every hour that they don't have to spend community to and from
your office to approve work is a big savings.
4. Be different in the way you present your proposals. For
larger clients, rather than having a meeting, writing a proposal
and then presenting the quote to them in person, stage it this
way:
a.) needs analysis meeting
b.) write a proposal without pricing
c.) second meeting to go over and confirm details in proposal
d.) third meeting to go over price quote in person
