Gloucester Cathedral

Also known as Cathedral Church of St Peter and the Holy and Indivisible Trinity and was built during 1089–1499. THe Cathedral has a length of 130 m, width of 43.9 m and a tower height of 68.6 m. Tower climb (269 steps) to the top of tower for a clear aerial view of the city and the bell chamber. Fee £3.00 for Adult (25 visitors per day)

There is no formal charge for admission, but adult visitors are asked to make a donation of £5.00 each towards the maintenance of this magnificent building. Photography is permitted provided that a donation of at least £5.00 is made. Tomb of Edward II is located in the Cathedral.

Exeter Cathedral

The present building was complete by about 1400, and has several notable features including an early set of misericords, an astronomical clock and the
longest uninterrupted vaulted ceiling in England (96 m).

The minstrels' gallery is decorated with 12 carved and painted angels playing medieval musical instruments including the cittern, bagpipe, hautboy, crwth, harp, trumpet, organ, guitar, tambourine and cymbals. The Cathedral organ stands on the ornate medieval screen. Bronescombe's tomb and the 18 m high bishop's throne made of Devon oak is located inside the Cathedral.

There are fourteen bells hung for ringing in the south tower, including a tenor of over 3.5 ton. Ringing takes place on the "Sunday after the third Saturday" at 1.30-3pm, and also on the first Sunday 8.30-9.45 am. Additionally, the bells are rung in the early morning in celebration of the three Great Festivals: Christmas Day, Easter Day and Pentecost.

Roof tours : Through the 251 steps of narrow stone spiral staircase. Tours run on Tuesday and Thursday at 14.00 h and Saturday at 11.00 h from April to September and last approx. 75 min. Place are limited to 12 people per tour. Roof tours are £8.50 per person.
