Volkswagen Vento
Hot on the heels of the New Polo Volkswagen has launched the Polo saloon with new name in India "Vento". The Vento, which means wind in both Italian and Portuguese, follows the VW tradition of naming its models after prominent winds. Launched in August, this new comer is under the burden of a lot of hopes from the VW family who hopes to sell a large number of Ventos in the Indian market. Let's take a look and assess whether Vento is worth the tumulus.
Engine
The petrol variant of the Vento is equipped with a 1.6 litre engine with an output of 105PS @ 5250 rpm and a Torque of 153NM @ 3800 rpm. The diesel variant is equipped with the 1.6 litre engine paired delivering an output of 105PS @ 4400 rpm and a Torque of 250 NM @ 1500-2500 rpm. Design And Comfort
Vento is the same to polo what Dezire is to Swift and Indigo is to Indica. Volkswagen has just churned out a new premium sedan from its polo hatchback model. The front has received an uplifted look with a bolder grill. The rear of the new sedan fits into the original polo's shell absolutely fine; In fact the cars are too much similar till the mid section. The rear has squarish tail lights and all but completes the look on this new crossover machine.
Interiors
The interiors of Vento are better than that of polo but not by too much. The wheel base has been extended by about 50 mm for a slightly better legroom. The headroom is also much better with the taper of the roof line absent. The highline model also offers Power Windows with individual controls, CD MP3 Player with 4 speakers, Climatronic automatic air conditioning with rear AC vents, Multi function info display including door opening warning, Height adjustable driving seats plus steering wheel adjustment for reach and rake, Sunglass Storage Inside Glove-box, Front and Rear Seat Arm-rests in center, Livon Fabric Upholstery, Electronically Adjustable Outside Rear View Mirrors.
