Malayalam language be made compulsory in schools
The assembly committee on official languages has recommended that teaching of Malayalam be made compulsory in all schools in the state including those under CBSE and ICSE syllabi.
The procedure for this should be completed during this academic year itself, the committee said in its recommendation to the government.
Addressing reporters here, Committee chairman P. Viswan said irrespective of the syllabus, the education department should take steps to teach Malayalam upto the tenth standard in all schools.
The panel also suggested that correspondence among the departments under education should also be in the mother tongue. As there were limitations in making Malayalam compulsory in colleges, a new teaching system should be evolved giving due importance to Malayalam, Mr. Viswan said.
Steps should also be taken to switch the medium of instruction to Malayalam in law colleges also. For this, officials and teachers should be given training in the mother tongue, the panel suggested.
A translation cell should be set up in the technical education department, Mr. Viswan said.
The panel also suggested introduction of Malayalam in communications of other departments including general administration, tourism and environment.
The present trend of reluctance to use Malayalam in official communications would result in a situation wherein the new generation would be unfamiliar with their mother tongue, the panel said in its report.

Malayalam is a language that should be banned
Malayalam is an extremely feudal language, that splits the social system vertically by an array of indicant words. It uses pejoratives towards those perceived as lower persons, and ennobling words to those seen as higher.
It makes a lot of professions obnoxious and a few superior.
The feudal content in Malayalam is responsible for most of the social problems of Kerala. In fact, the feudal content in all Indian languages is responsible for all of India's problems.
