Munnar
NH 49 (Kochi - Madurai) : Vytila - Kolenchery - Muvattupuzha (1 h) - Kothamangalam (10 km, 20 min) - Neriyamangalam - Cheappara falls - Valara falls (2 km from Cheappara) - Adimaly (1.5 hour) - Koombanpara - Iruttukanam junction - Thokupara - Ambazhachal - Anachal - Chithirapuram - Pallivasal - Munnar (30 km, 1 hour).
Adimaly (6 am) - Kallar (6.30 h, falls, 16 km to Mankulam) junction- Pallivasal (6.50 h) - Munnar (7.10 h).
Attukad falls is 2.5 km from Pallivasal.

Devikulam (7 km from Munnar) : This hill station has velvet lawns, exotic flora and fauna and the cool air is a rare experience. The Sita Devi lake is a picnic spot on the route.
Devikulam - Lockhart Gap tea estate - Gap - Kurissumala & Robber's cave (3 km) - Theni. Munnar has regular bus service to Theni and Udumalpet. Madurai bus via Theni at 1430 h .
Lockhart Gap (13 km from Munnar/5 km from Devikulam) : This scenic tea plantation worth the long walk to the Gap. The fresh mountain air, mist clad mountains, view of the kurissumala hill make it a worthy visit. Following the Gap road one can visit the Robber's cave - a rock shelter.

Mattupetty (12 km from Munnar on the Top Station road) : Located at 1700 m, Mattupetty has a scenic dam, lake for boating and a highly specialised dairy farm - the Indo - Swiss livestock project. Visitors are allowed to the tourism area (9am to 11 am, 2 pm to 3.30 pm, Entry Rs 5).

Echo point is 4.5 km from Mattupetty dam on the banks of Mattupetty lake on the Top Station road (15 km from Munnar).

Kundala : The picturesque tea plantations and the artificial dam are worth a visit. Located 20 km from Munnar on the Top Station road.

Top Station view point, Munnar
Top Station view point (1,880 m) is located at the Kerala - Tamil Nadu border in Theni district of Tamil Nadu, 32 km from Munnar ( 1 hour by bus from Munnar via scenic tea plantation). There is Periyar Residency and few other tea shops provides very basic food and accommodation. The highest point of the Kodai road is 6.6 km from Top station at 2,260 m.
Top station view point has panoramic view of the Western Ghat and the distant Theni plains. The view point is owned by Private personnel and there is an entry fee of Rs 15. The area is famous for the Neelakurinji flower which blooms once in 12 years ( 2018 ) .
Top Station was a transshipment point for delivery of tea from Munnar in British era. Tea was transported from Kundala to Top station by Monorail (10 km) and then to Kottagudi by ropeway. Then by cart to Bodynayakannur (15 km) and then to other parts of India by rail and to England.

Ernakulam - Munnar - Top Station - Koviloor bus arrives Adimaly at 6.30 am, Mattupetty : 8.20 h, Top station 9.20 h.

Rajamala at Eravikulam National Park, Munnar
Rajamala (15 km from Munnar) : This is in the tourism area of the Eravikulam National Park where one can spot the Nilgiri Tahr (Hemitragas bylocres, an endangered species of mountain goat). The estimated population is 1317 and is half of the world's total population. Anamudi peak (2695 m) is located in the southern region of the park.
Visiting hours : 8 am to 5 pm except during monsoon. Fee : Rs 10, Rs 25 for camera, Rs 20 for National park Van from the Marayur road boarding point.

Chheappara falls : It is located 12 km from Adimaly on the Neriyamangalam road (NH 49). It is a 7 tier waterfall and is a feast for the eyes during the monsoon. Those who are interested in trekking can go to the top of the falls from Valara falls by an easy route.
