Today, Kerala is staring down the barrel of an extinction event- level disaster that could occur anytime in the form of the Mullaperiyar dam failure, a ticking water-time bomb. This disaster, if it happens, will have no parallels in recorded human history and will have horrifying consequences that will haunt and torture people for generations to come. For the uninitiated, this not a simple issue of water sharing like the Kaveri dispute, but a deadly disaster staring Malayalees in the face, one that will reduce the most prosperous lands and people of the state to a muddy wasteland riddled with corpses and shattered lives which will make the post 2004 Tsunami Indonesia look like downtown Los Angeles. If the dam fails, death will come to central Kerala in the form of flash floods, landslides, washouts at first and later in form of diseases, famine, drought and ecological, economic, financial and social disasters that will follow it. 3.5 million Malayalees, entire family trees and everything that all our ancestors have built up over centuries will be wiped off the map in a matter of hours.
It is estimated that around 35,00,000 people in the districts of Idukki, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Pathanamthitta will be wiped out if the Mullaperiyar dam bursts.
Addendum: Looking at the apathy our so called Indian national media; displays towards this issue and the lukewarm response from the Indian central government, I think that the lives of 35,00,000 Indians really do not matter, because these Indians do not live in the Hindi belt or have any significant say in matters of national politics. Despicable, it is. I have always thought Kerala to be like the North East where lives of people do not matter. What can be expected from a country which gives five-star treatment amounting to 50,00,00,000 to a terrorist who attacked the country, while law-abiding voiceless citizens do not have security for living an honest life?

17. സമ്മര്*ദം കുറക്കാന്* അണക്കെട്ടിനു മുകളില്* കോണ്*ക്രീറ്റ് ക്യാപ്പിങ് ഉണ്ടാക്കി. പക്ഷെ ഇത് ഫലവത്തല്ല.
18. ഒരു ഭാഗത്ത് കോണ്*ക്രീറ്റ് ആവരണം പണിത് ഇന്*സ്*പെക്ഷന്* ഗാലറി നിര്*മ്മിച്ചു. (ആവരണം അണക്കെട്ടിനോട് ചേരാത്തതിനാല്* ഭിത്തിയുമായി ചേരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് ഇപ്പോള്* ചോര്*ച്ച)
19. കേബിള്* കൊണ്ട് അണക്കെട്ട് അടിസ്ഥാനത്തോട് ഉറപ്പിച്ചു(ഇത് താത്കാലിക ബലപ്പെടുത്തല്* മാത്രം)

ഡാമിന് കുഴപ്പമില്ലെന്നും iit റിപ്പോര്*ട്ട്* വ്യാജമാണെന്നും സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യം സ്വാമി. ഇവന്റെയൊക്കെ ചെകിടത്ത് അടിക്കാന്* നമുക്കൊരു ഹര്*വീന്ദര്* സിംഗ് ഇല്ലാതെ പോയി.
