    I'm a bit worried that there is no slot in which you can add an external microphone

    Most, if not all, notebooks have a headphone and microphone jack, so there is nothing to worry about. You ask if this is a good notebook, but you do not mention for what. In general? Yes, this is a good notebook. For gaming (since this is asked very often on here)? No, you will not be able to game on it.
