Very nice post. I think the color is more important for any house. And your idea is nice.

First you should start with the walls. Paint them a creamy yellow shade. It brings part of the attention to the walls because the colour is such a beautiful shade. If you don't want anyone to feel claustrophobic while they are there, then you do just this thing. Paint the roof a light shade of colour that makes peoples eyes feel like the roof is higher. The point of this is to make this ceiling look like the sky or a high free of space area. It can be any shade of colour you like as long as it is a nice shade and goes well with the walls. The walls also don't have to be yellow but they should be a creamy, partly bright and a good brand of paint. The roof can be shaded up from the walls so the colours sort of mix to one. Believe me it will make the atmosphere feel more free and spacious. You could also put a small chandelier or small light that hangs (not too big or it will hit the ground). Along with the paint that will already make the guest or person(s) in the room feel comfortable, the chandelier will hang at a normal level if you get a small one and will make the person(s) is the room feel like the chandelier is up higher. Trust me all these tips will work. If you need more help try and think of things that will make people feel like they are in a room that feels like the outdoors. Put all my tips into one big idea. Good-Luck with everything.
