BSE Sensex came under more pressure in the noon trade with the stock benchmark down 121 points to 17399.15.

The weak rupee also weighed on the BSE Sensex. The rupee breached the 56-mark, down 59 paise at 56.01 against the US dollar.

Metal, realty and power stocks were trading were the worst hit with the sectoral indices down over 1 per cent.

Among the BSE Sensex stocks, Jindal Steel, Bajaj Auto and Tata Steel were down over 2 per cent.

Besides, the dollar also strengthened against other currencies such as the euro in the overseas market following disappointing US jobs growth figures, putting further pressure on the rupee, dealers said.

Analysts expect the BSE Sensex to remain volatile this week with investors awaiting many cues. Infosys, TCS and HDFC are due to release their first quarter earnings this week. IIP data for May is also due this week.
