7 movies which can rock 2012!
Every year has its landmark movie moment. Dabangg made 2010 memorable, while The Dirty Picture rocked 2011. Check out our list of movies that are bound to make an impression this year.
Ek Tha Tiger
Stars: Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif
Director: Kabir Khan
Salman stars as Tiger. Need we say more? Kabir’s film will see the star in an action-packed avatar as he plays a deadly RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) agent. And audiences won’t miss his trademark dollops of tongue-in-cheek humour, not to mention his romantic side, given that co-star and ‘good friend’ Katrina are looking like a million bucks.
Barfi!
Stars: Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Ileana D’Cruz
Director: Anurag Basu
It will be Ranbir’s next release after Rockstar (2011). Although the film has been in the making for a while now, the first trailer has already generated a lot of buzz. While Ranbir plays a deaf-mute character called Barfi, PC stars as a mentally challenged girl. Many feel it’s a National Award-worthy performance from Ranbir. We’ll wait and watch!
Heroine
Stars: Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal
Director: Madhur Bhandarkar
The project was first given to Kareena Kapoor, who turned it down. Then it went to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, before she left the film in lurch, when news of her pregnancy made headlines. As luck would have it, it came back to Bebo.
Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine with Kareena Kapoor in the lead
Is that enough real-life drama to tempt you into watching the flick based on the rise and fall of a superstar?
Talaash
Stars: Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukerji
Director: Reema Kagti
Aamir’s next after 3 Idiots (2009). Touted to be a psychological drama, it’s being looked upon as a guaranteed box-office winner. In fact, Aamir pushed the film’s release date to November to make sure he could concentrate on the promotion. So, be prepared for another Aamir blitzkrieg at the cinemas.
Yash Chopra’s untitled next
Stars: Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma
Director: Yash Chopra
To put things simply, the king of romance returns to direction with the romantic superstar SRK in locales as varied as London and Ladakh. We are sure fans don’t need more reasons to lap up the film but for the uninitiated, SRK will wine and dine not one, but two reigning divas of the industry.
Khiladi 786
Stars: Akshay Kumar, Asin, Himesh Reshammiya
Director: Ashish Mohan
Akshay returns to his famous (and successful) tag of Khiladi after 12 years with this Punjabi comedy. The soundtrack, and the story of the film, have been written by Himesh. Expect Akki’s trademark Punjabi comedy in the film that will release towards of the end of the year.
Dabangg 2
Stars: Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha
Director: Arbaaz Khan
Chulbul Pandey will be back this December. Although the film is still far from completion, it’s already creating huge buzz in the market. In the sequel, Chulbul moves to a bigger city as commissioner, but armed with his trademark mannerisms and action sequences. So, be ready for the mad ride again!
Also in the fray
In addition to our list of top seven films to look out for, other ventures such as Farah Khan’s acting debut in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, Karan Johar’s next Student Of The Year starring Alia Bhatt (Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter) and Varun Dhawan (David Dhawan’s son) and Sridevi’s comeback vehicle English Vinglish are also bound to create a frenzy.
