The most popular film festival of the nation , International Film Festival of Kerala will feature nine new Malayalam films in its current edition. The movies to be screened in its competition section includes two films , T V Chandran's Bhoomiyude Avakashikal and debutante director Joy Mathew's Shutter.

The other seven other films from Malayalam that will be shown under the section 'Malayalam cinema today' include Arunkumar Aravind's Ee Adutha Kaalathu, Ranjith's Indian Rupee, Dr.Biju's Akashathinte Niram, K Gopinathan's Ithra Maathram, Manoj Kana'sChayilyam, Madhupal's Ozhimuri, and Lijin Jose' Friday.

The year's edition of the festival, will kick start on the 7th of December and will go on till the 14th of December.
