Sahrudaya hospital at Thathampally in Alleppey town has been established in the year 1967 by Social Welfare Society Thathampally. At present the Sahrudaya hospital managed by Archdiocese of Changanacherry.The initial name of this dispensary was ‘Health Centre-cum-Hospital’ and the name was subsequently changed to ‘Sahrudaya Hospital’. With the financial assistance from Caritas India it could purchase its own land with a small building. The society, including utilizing the contributions received, has constructed a building with an aggregate area of 3146 Sq.M. With the financial assistance from Helpage U.K., the society could construct the geriatric ward.
Similar assistance were also received from MISEREOR, Helpage India, Caritas India and local donations for specified projects attached with the society. More than 85% of the society building is now used for the Sahrudaya Hospital.
The Sahrudaya Hospital, Thathampally is now an 90 beded hospital with Geriatric ward, ICCU, Two Operation theatres and a Labour room, Clinical laboratory, X-ray, Ultra Sound Scanning etc. The various departments in the hospital are: Gen. Medicine, Gynaecology, Gen.Surgery, Paediatrics, Opthalmology, Orthopaedic and Accident Unit. We have recently added a Cardiology department with well equipped modern I. C. C. U. We have received the financial support for I. C. C. U. from Mr. Chandy Mathew Pallivathukkal in memory of his parents.
