The Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) has invited applications for its Common Admission Test (CAT) to be held on May 11 and 12 for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Courses


The courses and the eligibility criteria:

B.Tech. programmes in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Information Technology, Safety and Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Polymer Science & Engineering; and five-year integrated M.Sc. programme in Photonics: a pass in Plus Two with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects and minimum 50 per cent marks in aggregate and 50 per cent in Mathematics are required.

B.Tech. programme in Instrumentation: at least 60 per cent marks in aggregate in Plus Two with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and 55 per cent marks in Mathematics separately.

B.Tech. course in Marine Engineering: at least 60 per cent marks in aggregate in Plus Two with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and at least 50 per cent in Mathematics. Applicants should have secured 50 per cent marks in English in classes 10 and 12. The upper age limit is 25.

B.Tech. Ship Technology: at least 60 per cent marks in Plus Two and 50 per cent marks in Mathematics separately.

The programmes include BBA LL.B. (Honours); B.Com. LL.B.; MA Applied Economics; LL.M.; MCA; LL.B.; M.Sc. Applied Chemistry, Biotechnology, Electronic Science, Environmental Technology, Hydrochemistry, Industrial Fisheries, Marine Biology, Marine Geology, Marine Geophysics, Mathematics, Meteorology, Oceanography, Physics, Statistics and Instrumentation; M.F.Sc. Seafood Safety and Trade; and M.Sc. Biopolymer Science. Eligibility criteria are given in the prospectus and on the website.

A B.Tech. lateral-entry test will be held on May 19 for admission to the third semester in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Information Technology, Safety and Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science and Engineering and Instrumentation. Those with an engineering diploma with at least 60 per cent marks can apply. The upper age limit is 25.

Admission to the M.Tech. programme is based on the score in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or the Department-level Admission Test.
