Mumbai model accuses Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf of sexual exploitation

Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf, who is in the International Cricket Council's elite panel, has been accused of sexually exploiting a Mumbai-based model. Leena Kapoor, the complainant, has filed a written complaint with the Mumbai Police against the wellknown umpire. She claimed that the 56-year-old Rauf had lured her with a false promise of marriage and then exploited her.

The model, a resident of suburban Oshiwara, has sent the complaint against the former first-class Pakistani cricketer to DCP Pratap Dighavkar. She has also said that Rauf has been sexually exploiting her for over six months. According to Leena, the two met through a common friend in Sri Lanka, around March, and they got along well. After further acquaintance, they decided to stay together while in Sri Lanka.

On her return to Mumbai, she kept in touch with Rauf. He later visited her in Mumbai and even attended her while she was sick. Leena has said that their relationship became romantic and he promised to marry her despite having a family in Pakistan, comprising a wife and two children.

Even during the Indian Premier League 5, where Rauf had officiated, the umpire stayed with her in Mumbai and the two continued to share a close relationship.However, over the last few weeks the communication snapped and Kapoor reportedly kept trying to get in touch with Rauf, but in vain. Last week, her complaint alleges, Leena received Rauf's call and then he denied knowing her. Further, she reportedly says, he warned her to not pursue any communication with him. Leena, however, did not respond to calls and text messages.
