Vertical Storage Tank has to be verified and stamped once in 5 years as per rule 27 of the Legal Metrology (General) Rules, 2011.

After tank calibration, datum are recorded and capacity is found (in kl). Tank is stamped by the Legal Metrology Officer and Certificate is issued.

The Stamping fee for tank calibration from Schedule X of the Kerala Legal Metrology (Enforcement) rules, 2012 is

(2) Capacity Measures :

Rs 50 for the first 100 l (litre) plus Rs 7 for every additional 100 l or part thereof, subject to maximum of Rs 5000.

Penalty

When a Vertical Storage Tank is used for 'transaction' or 'protection', it has to be get calibrated and stamped by Legal Metrology under Sec 24 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009. The violation of Sec 24 is punishable under Sec 33 of the above Act with fine up to Rs 10 000.
