What type of balance to be used for the transaction of gold and other precious commodities ?
The rule 9(3) of the Kerala Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2012 ensures the use of Bullion weight / Carat weight, beam scale of class A or class B category or a non automatic weighing instrument of class II or class I, of e (verification scale interval) value 10 mg shall be used in any transaction or protection relating to precious metals, pearls, ornaments, or other articles made of gold or silver and costly goods, the cost of which exceeds ten thousand rupees per kg.
Penalty
The violation of rule 9(3) is punishable under rule 24 with a fine, which may extend to five thousand rupees.
