‘BPCL-Kochi refinery to generate 2,500 jobs’
The expansion project of the BPCL-Kochi Refinery is expected to generate about 500 direct and up to 2,000 indirect jobs once it becomes functional, Prasad K Panicker, Executive Director of Kochi Refinery, has said. He was inaugurating the two-day national conference on ‘Emerging Trends in Mechanical, Safety and Fire Engineering and Management Science' organised by Toc H Institute of Science and Technology (TIST) in association with Aeronautical Society of India, Kochi branch and Indian Institute of Production Engineers (IIPE) here on Monday. Panicker said that BPCL-Kochi Refinery has envisaged a huge expansion project worth about Rs. 28,000 crores in the next two years.
Stating that the nation and especially Kerala is witnessing a conducive investment climate, Panicker said that the expansion project of the Kochi Refinery has received wholehearted support from all the trade unions. He urged the young engineers and talents to come forward and take India to the club of developed nations by 2025.

Ravindran Nair, Dean-Mechanical Engineering, Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, Principal Dr. Justus Rabi and Vice Principal Prof. Baby John spoke.
Forty eight papers based on the theme of the conference were presented by experts from various parts of the country during the event that concluded on Tuesday.
