Also I'd like to add that we need to take advantage of portals which already exits to help the two ends of the businesses.
By that, I mean a B2B portal.
Here is an example of a portal in india which helps you find the means to connect with those who complement your business.
For Eg. IF you are a manufacturer of pens, you will find those who manufacture the plastic, refills and so on and also a retailer!

I am sure this solves a whole lot of problem in defining your goals and expanding futher.
