Very useful information. Interviews can be so stressful. It helps to feel more in control.

    Default good tips

Thanks for nice tips. Can we add some more tips or some ackward questions asked mostly during HR round ..

Let me put some questions asked to me.

Q1. Why are most of the mainhole covers made round in shape?
Q2. Can you guess how many pubs are in Bangalore?
Q3. Give me two of your weak points?
Q4. Give me one reason to satisfy me in support of your decision of moving from a big company like X and joining our comany Y (that is comaratively small)?
Q5. Thanks ! everything seems ok from my end. But I can't comit the figures that you are asking. (What should we say , at this time :-)

So, questions can be anything, sometimes its not easy to prepare all the answers and we tend to become emotional. So, the bottom line is the abililty to check our emotions. Because, they are trying to peek into our real strength. Thus, it's better if we can make all these things a part of our personality rather just practicing it for the interview purpose only.

It's always easy to act what we are.

I have a good answer for the 4th question. in a big company, u don't get too much scope for development. But in a small company there is much scope for personal as well as the companies development.
For the second one my answer would have been "I haven't visited pubs and i don;t have a count of it".
For the first question, there can be a answer abt aesthetics, or material usage, stress behaviour etc.,
For the third question , give a honest answer,
I don;t understand the fifth question.

    Default Fifth question explained

    Good Answers Dear..

Let me explain my fifth question. Sometimes you would be asked about your expected salary and when you say some figures, the HR would say that everything is ok but he can't comit if they would be able to offer the salary (perks, benefits etc) as expected.

Should we be flexible or rigid over what we asked for earlier?

I personally feel that if u remain non-flexible he may think in two ways. 1. u are arrogant. 2. u are not welcoming changes. If u are flexible he may think in two ways. 1. u are welcoming changes. 2. u cannot stick on to a decision to which u have made.
These questions are tricky questions. Better remain flexible with the employer. Don't stress too much on salary. He knows the right amount for u.
And for any questions the interviewer would like to ask from the candidate, never ask abt the salary package! Ask abt the company's development, future projects, ur scope in the company etc.,

    Default Judging the interview scenario

Let me share one of my experiece where I could not qualify an interview.

It was a technical interview organized on Sunday. I was the first one among the list of the candidates. There were 3 panels taking Interviews parallely. In my luck, there was one of the delivery manager of the account. Eventhough, he was too qualified to interview a candidate like me, I had no options but to face him. Anyway, the kind of questions that were asked from me were too abstract and sometimes too into the deep for my kind of experience. I tried to answer them as per my capacity but could not satisfy him :-(

I attended with the same kind of preparation some other Interviews as well and got through them easily. Need not mention, at those occassions, I was up against some Right kind of interviewer and he was delighted with my responses.

So, the take away from my experience, we should try to judge the situation and act accordingly. Try to understand the scenario, the expectations of the interviewer. Never hurry up in your reply. Once you match your frequency with them, try to take the command. If you realize at any point of time that things being asked are too vague, just don't jump into the conclusion that your fate has been decided. Instead fight by supporting your arguments. In the end, it is you who should be satisfied even though you lose the battle :-)

I found some very good advice in this post..
However, if you fail an interview, you will still feel disappointed. Especially if you know that you could easily do the job offered.
    So... What's the conclusion?

Default art of changing your defeat into your triumph.

We need to learn the art of changing our defeat into triumph. Let me explain it in a bit different way.

We should prepare ourselves very well in advance before taking the interview. If due to some reasons things didn't turn our way, we should better think in a positive way.

You may talk to yourself like this -

    1) hey.. leave that.. this was not the right job for me. Some better job opportunity is still waiting for me. This was one step toward that direction and was meant to prepare me better.

    2) Well, I did well but it is they (some perspective employer) who could not recognize the talent in me. So it is they who are the losers. I am going to create a win-win situation for the employer who is going to hire me :-)

Hope.. all this is not too optimistic.. but it works.. what;s wrong in trying it :-)
