can any one help why there is a limit on space for older p.c.'s

I can't understand your post.
What kind of space limit, are you talking about that you can't copy more then 4 GB file on your harddisk, if yes then this is because you are using FAT32, if you are running Windows XP then you can convert it into NTFS and this limit will be removed. If you are running Windows 98 then you are out of luck. Install Windows XP.
Which PC you have, what is it specs?
Which operating system you are running?
By older PC's which PC's you mean? Are they IBM286 PC's availabe in 1980s or some other? :)
Which operating system they used?
DOS, Linux, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP or someother?
Please make a clear question with more details so i or someone else give an accurate answer.
